Can I Play Real Money Poker On The Apple iPad?
Update : Playing real money poker is finally a possibility. Bwin have launched the first iPhone / iPad poker app called Bwin Poker for iPhone, while Switch Poker offer a browser based poker platform that has been optimized for the iPad and iPhone. This is the most commonly asked question and the answer is both NO and YES (by connecting remotely). Firstly, lets deal with the NO and the reasons why you can’t play real money poker on the iPad.
NO
The iPad uses the iPhone OS, so just like on the iPhone, you can only install apps from the Apple App Store. You cannot browse to your favour poker rooms website and download/install their native poker applications, like you would on your PC or MacBook.
The poker rooms have not developed iPad or iPhone poker apps because Apple will not approve any real money gambling applications.
The second obstacle to real money poker on the iPad is Apple’s refusal to support Flash on their mobile devices. Many poker rooms such as UB.com offer No Download/Instant versions of their poker clients, that you can play via your Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari browers. These are handy if you want to play a few hand at work or in an internet café where you cannot install the full poker client.
Unfortunately, these browser based versions use Flash, which Apple have so far refused to support on the iPad or iPhones. This is also why many YouTube videos will not play on the iPhone or iPad, as they use the Flash video format.

However, there is light at the end of the tunnel if you really want to play real money poker on the iPad, providing you already own a PC or MacBook. The solution is pretty simple and doesn’t require you to hack into your device or jailbreak it. You’ll just need to connect to your PC or MacBook using apps like LogMeIn or Jaddu, which you can purchase from the Apple App store.
