Can I Play PokerStars On The iPhone?
No, unfortunately you cannot currently play PokerStars on the iPhone. This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, Apple refuse to approve real money poker apps in the United States, which is PokerStars largest market. Apple have, however, recently approved a Bwin iPhone poker app that can be played by iPhone owners in the United Kingdom and Austria. PokerStars may follow a similar route by releasing an iPhone app in Europe, where mobile gambling is legal.
The second biggest obstacle to PokerStars on the iPhone is the lack of Flash support on all Apple mobile devices. Apple claim that Flash is unstable and is a drain on the iPhones battery. This means that a "No Download" browser based version of PokerStars is also not possible at present. The latest versions of Android and Blackberry smartphones and tablets do come with a Flash Player, so Apple may eventually be forced to support the technology.
On a postive note, PokerStars did purchase a leading mobile gaming company in late 2009, so most analysts expect them to release their own poker app in the very near future.
