New BlackBerry Mobile Gambling App For Nevada Citizens
By Sebastian Hawkes | September 29, 2010
Update: For all the best Blackberry sports betting, poker and casino apps, visit BlackBerry Betting
A new BlackBerry gambling app has been launched for U.S. citizens based
in Nevada. Although most media attention has been on iPhones and
Androids devices recently, BlackBerry’s have not seen as many gambling
developments despite still retaining a sizeable chunck of the smartphone
market.
American Wagering and Leroy’s Race and Sports Books plan to change all that by launching the first mobile betting app for the BlackBerry. Unfourtunatley for most US based mobile gamblers, this new mobile gambling app will only be available to residents of Nevada.
The new app will offer all of Leroy’s betting options, including teasers, parlays and straight wagers. Live betting will also be made available on selected NFP games.
To get over the big regulatory hurdle of getting the BlackBerry mobile betting app approved, the developers had to come up a new system to verify that players were within Nevada borders. They did this by using the BlackBerrys GPS system that cell phone towers to pinpoint the location of the app user.
